CMC LTD CJET Training cum placement programme (should go for it or not)

Guys n gals from non cs(it) background or cs branch too (personally i think electronics stream guys have a advantage, at least they can say it was not in my syllabus but really companies expect less frm them) searching job in IT industry, and if you want some info about CMC academy that job cum training placement program it is here go through it.
I am an engineering graduate of electronics and communication stream. When i was in college i had no idea that i will land up in the IT industry, always kept dreaming about Core companies but  opportunities there are very less and as matter of fact while searching job in bangalore for six months i attended only one core company, lnt core not to mention that around 2500 candidates attended it and only 52 cleared written test i do not know how many got selected finally.
I joined CMC ltd as a trainee at 9/12  palace road bangalore. You  have to give a aptitude test, its a formality questions are same all the time and you can even take the question paper home and solve it dere just kidding.
Yeah  if you get low score they will ask you to pursue networking course but if you insist on software its all yours . It is followed by a technical interview, to warn you  its no less than any job interview but  the only difference is that its not mandatory to give all the answers as they are not going to affect your chances of selection for  the programme.A medical checkup will be conducted, you will get an envelope with a form in it nicely labelled as  PRE EMPLOYEMENT medical test, not to be very happy about it i was hehehe, you will have to go to religare lab in millers road
Now coming to the syllabus dere, its like
  • c programming
  • linux (REL5)
  • c++
  • core java or .net
  • advanced java
  • oracle
  • soft skill (most of d tym u will hv a soft skill session only hehehe)
  • software engineering
Course duration is of 3 months but it can extend for a few days , after that 3 months project for which stipend will be paid as written in offer letter. One good  thing  about this program  is that it gives a feeling of working in an IT company. There is dress code you will have to wear formal and here i would like to mention that i always use to wear jeans for which Shilpa use take another lecture for me. Hmm Shilpa use to take our soft skill sessions, you will have a pc on which  you have to sit all the time and do your programming. Facilities are good more like a company after all its an IT company took over by tcs only point you are not its employee. Rajguru sir use to take our sessions for c programming and he was quite good at it  if  you are there do not  miss any of his c sessions he is a good trainer and very fast through the syllabus. A lady came from hyderabad to take our linux sessions she was also a good trainer and  now it was time for c++ from subh sir do not go on his looks and tone he has got some knowledge then we had oracle sessions after that batch was divided for java and .net
You can go for a coffee break on the terrace, there is a cmc canteen you can have maldrinks, badam milk tea or coffee not to pay for it yeah but for lunch it was 25 bucks now its 35 (south indian meal).

Now i have a question  for you do u really need to have a serious agency like cmc to get a job because as a 2010 fresher with 65% through out academics i was eligible for almost all the companies but if  your answer is yes you can go for it by paying 60,000 + service tax but  rest assured it does not give a guarantee of  fetching you a job, you will have to study like hell out of you for you will not get enough time after coming home, night is all yours but have to wake up  next morning for the next day of cmc sessions. Keep attending off campus drive if your are eligible of course. As a matter of fact all the trainees there were 2009 or 2008 pass out  and those who were 2010 do not  met the 60% criteria. There were a few exceptions like my friends from my college and a few others. If you  are going there for job assurance that project they promise to give you it is not that what you really want to do because if you  have completed your training and you have the knowledge you will get a job outside cmc. Some opportunities will be provided by cmc, but only a few will be selected and companies will be that you have never heard of but compensation package will be decent slightly less dan the market. I forgot to mention there is a online evaluation after each paper and you have to pass all of it and an interview to get that project(ders some bug in c++ test bcoz i was d only one to pass tat test 66 marks in d history of that branch as told by subh sir  though my friends had much more knowledge than me ders some problem with software i guess)

I left CMC when i got offer from TCS, advanced java was going in my batch at that time, after that i had offers from cognizant and lnt infotech. Thanks to cmc they gave me some knowledge but i think the money i spent for it was not worth it i could have done it on my own as there was no criteria prob with me.

My million dollar advice if  you want to take it  is , for freshers having 60% throughout you do not need it but if  you have 65000 bucks to spend then go for it, after all you will gain some knowledge from it and it will help you in technical interviews and you can update your cv with cmc certificates but do not ever go after that  project assurance. I m sure after 3 months you will not like to do that but its an option if  you have nothing  else in your bag. Others who do not meet off campus criteria,  if  u can easily afford the fees go for it you will have some  knowledge and a place to start from but always prefer a job at any start up at any salary over it.

If u want any more info u can get to me

    ReplyDelete
  12. heheeh package in cmc u will get 6 to 8 k/month max for tat three months of which dey gv u a guarantee if u are confirmed after tat in cmc itself salary will be around 15k/month(no guarantee u will be confirmed)and if u are selected by any company frm dere max pckg will be 3.00/annum (tat too no guarantee u will get it bcoz dey are small cmpny or cmpny which at least i hv never heard of and dey look for technicaly strong people) so by now u can predict hw much guaranteed its is dun make it ur first option its no gurantee but most probably if u will gv ur effort in learning process u will be able to crack interviews outside cmc which are giving decent pckges all tier 1 cmpny

I have 70%> throughout my MCA and 60%> in the rest of my education. My question to you is, are the job opportunities that you get through CMC for other companies really good for me ?? PS. My campus selections are over now.

  44. Shashank buddy wait for some time keep applying for diff companies they are going to hire aggressively dis year m very sure cmc is not wat u want .

  45. Charitha u can go for other streams too i have seen mechanical and chemical guys civils too and that is not very rare. However most of them settled for testing or production support. regarding embedding its an interesting field but job opportunities are bleak as companies prefer Mtechs . Few of my friend are stagnant in their career in wipro and fujitsu from last three years. I will not recommend a short hand course in embedding if u are very much interested in this field go for mtech.

  46. Dear Rishabh, let me tell you very clearly there is a difference between cmc and cmc academy. cmc is the IT company which was taken over by TCS and cmc academy is run over by some training department of cmc. I think it just shares brand of cmc as i never came in contact with the IT division of cmc or its employees while my tenure in cmc academy and never heard of it too. You can consider it as two diff entities for your convenience.
Tatas will never ask you for money in any form for any job, training whatsoever. Never pay for getting a job, in 99 percent of the cases u will regret doing it, I have seen people doing tat and messing it all up.. If your intention is having a feel of corporate environment with a a certification which a company may prefer over freshers and most important ,to sharpen your technical skill to crack interviews for your dream companies then you should go for it. Now just see how sane is it it to spend money for tat and by wat measures

  47. For all those people who are graduating this year dun be in such a negative frame of mind how many tier two colleges provide campus placements Thousands are being recruited from off campus drive and their process has just started for this year why cant u be among them. Why look for a guarantee from someone which they cant provide in its true sense.Job market was never better as compared to past few years ,keep trying till DEC 2014 at least.

  49. Hi Syed sir,
The information you provided is really very helpful.I m 2014 graduate, due to my <60% in 10th i was not elligible to sit in campus and just started searching for job in pune. I m looking for an entry point,i have good technical knowledge but don't know where to search for a job where my 10th percentage do not affect. So as you are my senior and experinced i need your help regarding few things:-
    1) Should i join SEED infotech training in software testing for 1month. After that they will assist me regarding placements for companies i m elligible for.
2)Apart from training i will search IT jobs by my own. So where to start from.
3)As so many people graduate every year and many of them after trying also donot get any job.So should i stop searching IT jobs and start doing something else because FEW people say career in IT is not bright.
4)As you work in TCS , you know why companies need people who have 60% throughout and some people who have more knowledge are left with not much options. Is it beacuse they want to reduce number of people sitting in campus or something else.
    Please do reply.
    Thanks :)

  50. Dear Aditya,
    1) I think i can say u can go to seeds if dey are not charging some insane amount of money. They do provide some opportunities and as u r a fresher it should not be too difficult for them. Do istqb certification if u want to be in testing it will help in ur cause and its no rocket science.i think if u will go to seed for testing probably dey will ask u to do it.
    2) Go for interview even if u dun have 60 % this criteria is pure bull shit just to put a cap on no of applicants. Most of the time they dun even verify it and i know a couple of guys who got through and are doing f9 now. Dun get me wrong but u gotta do what u have got to do.In off campus it happens and dey really dun care but if u will go banging from the front door with ur <60 % marksheet den its dere policy to filter u.
At fresher level u have to rely on these off campus drives no more options u may get a chance to work in startup may be through naukri or some connection dun waste ur time dere if its not technically relevant to industry.
3)This is not for me to answer if u have better options then leave it. Its grossly wrong to say career in it is not bright it gives u a salary no other industry will offer u with ur current skills and after tat its upto u how u fight ur way to the top. A non comp science guy fetching a pckg of 10+ in an investment bank at experience of 3.7 years is my criteria of doing fair in IT industry and dis is too much to ask from tat BE degree from some abc college. After this exp you can shape ur career to a brighter one, do higher studies get into finance or continue to be technical architect or business analyst whatever u wish to. You know the problem is people get a job in IT and dey think dey have pulled off a massive job dey work lazily for 4 to 5 years den want to go onsite with no skill set to bck dem or dey will become dose dreaded ass hole managers and end up saying IT industry has nothing more to offer. I can speak whole night but u got it wot i wanted to say here and now i m feeling sleepy too.
    4) I am not a part of tcs anymore but it goes for any company as i have said its just a criteria to filter profile in a country where 2 out of every 5 graduate is an engineer. If you dun have resources and time to eval 100 candidates for a job wot will u do . Getting less dan 60 percent in 10 in cbse board is a serious issue can be a awful lot of reasons i agree but u know its india we dun have time nor money for it. And yeah getting less dan 60 percent is no measure of ur capabilities and wot u can do in future so buck up and do something good with ur lyf

Gosh i hv written so much m going insane emotional kar diya bhai tune tc hv a great career ahead

  55. Hello Shadab Sir!!! I am a 2014 pass out with an aggregate of 50% (actually 49.6%) in my B.E. (ECE). I just got to know about the C JET course by CMC Ltd. I am very much convinced with there teaching (I have attended their Demo classes). But I also came to know that we must have an aggregate more than 50% to join the course. Is it true? Do I need to submit a copy of my degree certificate there which will indicate my aggregate? What and all documents do I need to submit there? I am very much worried as my marks are not good enough to get a job even though I am ready to work hard to improve my technical skills or for anything else to get a job. Please help me out... :(

  67. hi guys. unlike you people i too was in dilemma to join training or not. my parents were behind me go and join but i was really not sure. today i am happy i took the right decision. i also read debdot comments. it all depends on us. i also have less percentage. no is forccing us to join. but one right decision can set our life. i am learning a lot. the placement team interacts with us for every opportunity. i have attended few interviews and waiting for results. i have also met the candidates here, but good feedback. few with bad mouthing cannot stop with their negative vibes. i am doing my CJET program at Bangalore. very happy and very important very positive about the same.
